The Silver Serpent Collective
Legends tells of an ancient silver serpent who escorted the Amdapori refugees to safety during the Sixth Umbral Calamity. Though the tale often changes with the teller, it is said that, as the Elemental Oha-Sok flooded the Star, a silver serpent led the refugees into her tunnels, where shelter and safety was to be had. The former Amdapori would turn the silver serpent's tunnels into their vast subterranean cities, becoming the first Gelmorrans. To some Duskwight families, even to this day, the sight of a silver serpent is said to portend good health and glad tidings.In the spirit of the savior of legend, The Silver Serpent Collective was formed. We are a collective of scholars, adventurers, tinkerers, and mages, come together to provide safe harbor for those the privileged of the Star have turned their back on. To this end, we take up residence in Ul'dah, where the difference between the wealth-owning class and the labour class is at its most stark. The SSC is a radically queer space for roleplaying as either enthusiastic or reluctant leftwing militants within the world of Final Fantasy XIV. Though on the outside they wear the mask of a charity, behind closed doors the leadership does all they might to lift up the working poor of their community, and undermine the efforts of those who would exploit them. Those best suited for the SSC have a flexible relationship with law and order, and are driven by a personal sense of justice over a civic minded adherence. (In D&D terms, Chaotic alignment.)That said, we are excited to roleplay with characters of all sorts, and if you think our little group could provide fun fodder for telling mutual stories, and character development, we would love to hear from you! But the more outside of this radical stance your character is, the more you may have to struggle to be trusted or relied upon in-character. That can be part of the fun, with the right attitude!
Rinnji Larioux (she/her)
Highborn bastard turned professional witch. Rinnji left the privilege of the Ishgardian court to pursue gender transition, living off the land, her magic, and the kindness of strangers for years there after. It is her strong sense of justice that led her to founding the Silver Serpent Collective.
Khetya Mirh (she/her)
An ambitious wizard; Khetya is a brilliant if not ruthless scientist, fancying herself a pioneer of arcane discovery. Despite her myriad of shortcomings, she holds a passion for the liberation and proliferation of knowledge and technology. Her family's wealth funds the SSC, and she is willing to assist others with their scholarly endeavors.
Valentin Chassaigne (he/they)
A Coerthan of Gelmorran descent, Valentin spent several years delving Amdaporian ruins for gil and assisting disenfranchised communities in the Shroud. After a murder accusation and a high bounty set by the Twin Adders, Valentin joined the Collective to continue his ventures well outside of their jurisdiction—though he still often likes to test his luck.

Firstly, our Discord is open to everyone as a place to chat, share your work, and coordinate RP. Rules specific to Discord conduct can be found within the server itself. This is also where you can find information on our Lightless syncshell.The SSC free company is hosted on Mateus. Joining the FC is not a strict requirement, but it does make coordinating with others easier at times. Characters from other servers are more than welcome to hold membership in-character. We have a cross-world linkshell available for in-game OOC chat and coordination.SSC members and affiliates are expected to follow a reasonable code of conduct:
Be 21+ years of age. Additionally, all characters must be 18+.
IC ≠ OOC. As much as we love opportunities for in-character conflict between members, we do not entertain blending. If you are experiencing out-of-character conflict from a SSC member, please inform FC leadership.
Have a play-to-lift mentality. Not every situation should be responded to with a 'no, but'. If you want other SSC members to explore and engage with your plot threads, engage with theirs in turn. Let your character be at a disadvantage, sometimes.
Understand that IC actions = IC consequences. If you pick a fight, you'll likely get one. If your character acts like an asshole, some people might avoid them. If your character takes action in direct conflict with SSC's mission and ethos, they may be excommunicated from the Collective.
No genAI. That means icons, character art, lore, assets, emotes, audio, video, gpose, anything. Players deliberately using generative AI will be removed from the Discord and banned from future events. We don't punish people for unknowingly sharing AI content, but the content must be removed.
Don't be a chud. Yes, even ironically. This includes homophobia, transphobia, anti-Black sentiment, general racism/xenophobia, religious intolerance, and more. Players promoting bigoted ideology will be removed from the Discord and banned from future events.
Be respectful of others. Do not be willfully ignorant in your RP portrayal. Engage with criticism and feedback from other members. Know other players' boundaries. When chatting off-topic, be respectful of others' opinions, so long as they are not promoting real-world harm.
Don't troll for ERP. Sexual material is a meaningful form of worldbuilding and character expression. That said, we are not Grindr. Do not engage with others in our Discord for the explicit purpose of arranging hookups. Move it to DMs.
Don't godmod. Keep your characters' power level reasonable. While we are happy to have characters highly proficient in martial combat, magic, or both, we do not want any characters in the Collective to have Ascian or WoL-like abilities.
Lore bending is welcome—lore breaking is not. FFXIV lore is very flexible; if you can find in-game evidence to support your custom lore, it will probably be fine! We invite you to build upon what the game has already established, so long as you adhere to the spirit of the setting.
